Éste film fué una revelación. Inauguró el género y movimiento cinematográfio denominado blaxpoitation. Cine con protagonistas afroamericanos negros y dirigido a un público negro, una revelación. Además gracias al excelente trabajo en la banda sonora de Isaac Hayes, se llevó en primer oscar a la major banda sonora otorgado a una persona de color. Y estamos en 1971. La injusticia social de los norteamericanos no es ninguna novedad.
